The day started like any other, I wanted to take pictures. Being in Southern California I'm graced with the opportunity of shooting every thing from Desert landscape, street or in this case surf. I packed up my gear and headed to Malibu. There are always plenty of surfers at Point Dume and after grabbing a few "traditional" surf photos, I focused on one guy who was far more aggressive in riding waves than the others (AKA: He fell a lot more in a spectacular fashion) and the fall is what I wanted to capture. With the sun behind the subject I let loose a burst of frames and after 3 or 4 sets every thing fell into place (Pun Intended).
This shot was taken with a Canon 60D at 1/1600sec at F5.6 100ISO. It was edited in Adobe Lightroom.
Pro Tip: When shooting surfers go to the extremes, Shoot a very fast shutter (1/2000) or very slow and pan (1/60) any thing in the middle will just look blurry.
